What’s In A Name (Graduate Film)
What’s in a Name is a hand-painted animated documentary that blends archival footage and oral storytelling to explore identity, memory, and the erasure of women in Igbo history. Through the personal reflections of narrator Lotanna, the film uncovers how patriarchal traditions and British colonization contributed to women’s absence from family records and cultural memory. By reclaiming the stories of the powerful women in her lineage, Lotanna transforms the film into an act of remembrance and resistance.
